Jews had presence in Brazil since its discovery. During the end of century XIX and first half of century XX, Brazil received important influx of jews of ashkenaz and eastern european origin.

Many people is scared how brazilian blacks and pardos have strong yiddish vocabulary, but it doesn't mean direct heritage or contact.

Sufism is a mystical and esoterical branch of Islam, but they are famous by their very musical religious practices. Sufis are also known due their "missionary" role among muslim, introducing Islam for other peoples. In Africa Sufis are not only an important influence with muslims, but also with non-muslims.

Here in Brazil, many musical instruments of african origin still retain their arab/persian name.


But the influence of Islam isn't retricted to art, but the thinking and spirituality of brazilian as whole.

I for example have 7% - 5% of Levantine ancestry, which was carried by the jews.

Like jews, gypsies arrived in Brazil in its moments of discovery. Gypsy is a generic name for diverse peoples, but sharing common ties. Gypsies were an important element to settle and populate brazilian territory, then they tend to be an important component into the core of brazilian population. During colonial period, most gypsies that came to Brazil were of Calé/Kalon source, from Iberia. After independence, Brazil started to receive also gypsies from old Turk Ottoman territories, Greece, Balkans, Germany and Eastern Europe. Gypsies are spread for all brazilian territory, despite it, they still are a very hermetical people, with many aspects of their identity being secrets, mysterious and unknown, however gypsies are important characters in brazilian culture and religiosity.

As I said, Brazil receives jews since its discovery, there is a long history of absorption of jews in brazilian population. All rule has its exception, in some cases even the exception become a rule.

As example, almost all russian and ukrainian jews (and descendants) in Israel, weren't full jews, some are even christians religiously.
