If you get chest pains from caffeine there's something wrong. That isn't supposed to happen. There's strong coffe and weak coffee. It depends on how strong you make it. Energy drinks contain lots of caffeine, I don't think they contain less than the average cup of coffee. Drinking coffee is something cultural, that's why it's popular. It's also healthier than energy drink. People don't drink coffee for the taste just like people don't drink beer for its taste.

I have talked to a doctor, who said that drinking too many energy drinks does that (it was around 3-4), and that it was normal reactions.
I don't see the point of drinking something if it doesn't taste well. Same reason for water.

I was a very picky when I was younger and haven't really grown out of it.

Yeah, it does generally contain a higher amount of caffeine and no, I don't get pains in the chest after drinking it.

Coca-Cola is probably not really the best choice for staying hydrated, but I'm not preteding to be some diet advisor. I don't know shit about that. So do as you want to. :-)

I mostly drink cold tap water with lemon, maybe with some mint leaves.

Yeah, I know it's not the best way, but I think it's better than nothing.

When I don't drink Coca-Cola I forget to drink anything, and get dehydrated, and the skin on my hands starts to die and look like the following example:

But yeah, and AFAIK, there is some salt in Coca-Cola (0.2g/L). FDA's guidelines says to stay bellow 2.3 g. I drink about 1.5L per day, so doesn't sound worrying in that aspect.

I used to play soccer when I was younger.

It's fun when you're the player (exercise), but it's just a temporary kick, like the gym, and that's it. I don't understand watching the big tournaments.
