^ ^ ...you know, one of the most controversial times in Hogan' s career was probably before he left then-WWF (now WWE )..

I think one can see that, from the plans then-WWF's staff had for him , that he was probably not gonna be in the main-events any more, instead they tried him as a tag-team- wrestler . . ( with his real-life colleague Ed Leslie ( Brutus Beefcake, one of his aliases ) )..

However , there is a story widely circulating about Wrestlemania 9,where he appeared with a beaten eye..

On-screen it was explained as "Hogan was beaten by strangers coming out of the gymn the night before"..

However, since that event the truth has come out more than once... It was Randy "Macho Man" Savage who threw a real-life punch ( not a wrestling fake-punch ) at Hogan for allegedly having found out that his wife, Ms. Elizabeth, was ready to divorce him which he blamed on Hogan inviting her to their house, where she allegedly said she wouldn't return to Savage any more..

Wow.. you see, wrestling, this circus , if you will , also can be full of real-life drama...

( it should be noted that later though , in WCW , Hogan and Savage were on the same team for a time again... "Time's a great healer.. " < - - - - ? )

.. as you can see, "The Macho Man " even was a commentator at Wr. 9...

One of the hardest jobs these guys probably can have is to "act professionally" during a show when in reality they have a grudge against each other....

.. how I view Hogan and his career as such..

    Yes , he was promoted..

He was, or should have been, the WWF's first ' superman '..

A kind of 'incredible Hulk'-character gone 'avenger of America ', heehee.. or thereabouts..

Btw.. it is said that Lex Luger had been planned to become the next ' American hero' in WWF in '93 after Hogan departed..

Gotta say, he with his' all-american' gimmick always reminded me of a kind of 'Captain America'..

.. he also had the muscular package to kind of pass as a superhero..

The rest of Luger's story in the wrestling world is a frustrating one at times though..

Even if he , I admit , had to look of a genuine star he kind of always fell short of luck..

In WCW, where he started, he kind of never came close to the championship belt during his first run, and in WWF the plans for Luger after his 'all-american ' gimmick-change also were quickly dropped..

.. even though he had one of the best physiques in all of wrestling he never really got to the top in a straight-forward-way..

"Fate can be cruel.. at times.. ".

" One man is born a hero.. his brother a coward... babies starve , politicians grow fat.. holy men are martyred.. and junkies grow legion....

    Why...?.. Luck !! ..blind , stupid , simple, doo-dahh clueless luck !!.."

He was a superstar for me, loved his gimmicks, though.

Hey Cold Fire. I actually remember Luger being brought in as a successor to Hogan. It didn't work so to me it seems Luger just lacked the magic.

    One theory...

Luger at one point must've been so pissed that after all the "all- American "- hype that was made around him he still didn't come up very much the card..

A legendary scene from WCW's first 'Monday Nitro' - show ( yes, a show that, as one could guess from the name, was an attempt at competing with 'Monday Night Raw ' )...

.. nobody had expected Luger to be present.. It was towards the end of '95 and Luger , dare I say, quietly wandered between the two promotions... He thereby stabbed WWF in the back.. But, as I said, he was pissed...
    This is business, folks..
