I ve tried what i get in 3-4 pop the vast majority of the time in gedmatch oracles, something N.Italian + Scandinavian, but there is no Bergamo like sample here, and with Lazio the fits are too erroneous. With Spanish samples it never works because of the lack of SSA/Taforalt, except sometimes Basque ones that don't have it.

Im not sure what you try to imply, those are single pop distances not fits. You can get relatively close to populations who even have a bit of East Asian in single distance but they rarely won't fit well with multiple pops.

The infamous sample from southeast France that nobody matches is from Nice, an historically Italian town at the border, that became part of France only recently. It's so ridiculous that i have family members from Provence who are closer to Ukrainians than this sample supposedly from their own region. But at least it's a real sample from a study exploring the border surroundings of the Alps with Italy, vs internet samples collected from god knows where.

Just like the so called "south French" sample isn't anywhere near like a southern half, it's samples taken at the border with the Basques, and those are the only people who depart from the main cluster, while even someone from Marseille can overlap with someone from Lille or Alsace as shown in real academic studies:



In the north of the Haute Garonne region, which is still a border region it already goes back to normal plotting of the main cluster (the + signs here)
