Default Who is the all-time most known (ethnic) Pole?

Note this explanation: It is referred to the world as a whole and to all times, which in this case means the degree of being known times the period of time. If you imagine a diagram then it’s the area under the curve. Or to put it this way: An individual that is known by 10% of the world population for a period of 100 years is equally well known as an individual that is known by 100% of the world population for 10 years.

It would have to be old whatsisname.

Although this depends on whether you consider Copernicus ethnic Pole or German, a debate which will probably never end.

If you ask the average peruvian their answer will be Lewandowski.

If you ask me I'd say Joseph Conrad or King Sobieski.

Lol, in Illinois it's Casimir Pulaski. No idea what he did, but we get a day off work because of him

I knew of a dispute of him to be labeled Pole or German but I was not aware of that his ethnicity is disputed (so I thought it to be like with Nikola Tesla). Btw. I here avoided Italians, however, in a first step, because of Columbus...

So what is your opinion of it? Because if he's an ethnic Pole he's indisputably number 1.

Marie Curie, Jan Sobieski, Pope John Paul II, and Conrad round out the top 5.

In Australia Pawel Strzlecki, an explorer who named Mt Kosciuszko, would break in the top 5.

Or Tomenable or Piotraschke. Between these three can be a hard competition.
