First of all 1: "Balkan" is a GeoPolitical term INVENTED by British in 19th century, it never existed before that.

2. Area of that name "Balkan" is in fact a homeland of entire European civilization.

3. "Balkan" is not a peninsula, because its mainland border is wider than it's coastal length from connection to mainland to the peek of "peninsula".

4. British even today scary their students with term "Balkanization" with purpose to install fear into them so that UK never fall apart.

And last but not least: Many people write nonsense here like Greeks "have turkish blood" etc... wtf???

IT'S THE OTHER WAY AROUND, if anyone have anybody's blood it's TURKISH HAVING EUROPEAN BLOOD, millions of them, no one in Europe can be traced to original Turks, and those original Turks can be found today mainly in central Turkey, Konya plato.

This question should be directed toward Turks themselves, and how they or some of them feel about it?

LOL, sorry friend, but it's not transitional area in any way.

Transitional area of Europe would be between European and Asian Russia, which is obvious and logical.

Term "Balkan" was invented for countries which totally fall under Ottoman Empire, and I mean totally, their capitals etc.

But have in mind THE MOST IMPORTANT THING, when you see this Autosomal DNA map (one of the most precise) you will see that Turkish Autosomal DNA is practically Alien to Serb, Bosnian, Bulgarian etc... :



This are facts from genetics, and leaves no doubt.

P.S. Even Sephardic Jews and Cypriot people are far with their genetics from Turks and you're talking about Greeks, cammon man.

I don't care I'm just Turkish but

That guy in 02:15 min gave the best answer, I always thought of Turks like that, in terms that many of you are confused because of Geography and history are you Europe or Asia.

It would be best for you if you would be on one or on another continent.

But then again, it makes you very interesting country from cultural, racial and every other aspect.

I personally view you as a BRIDGE between Europe and Asia, in every sense of that term, which in fact you are.
