Why is Australia/Australians usually a source of mirth to Americans? There's nothing particularly funny about it.

It's not like I'm offended by the memes about Australia, I just find them boring. E.g. Australia doesn't exist, dingo ate my baby, shrimp on the barbie, Steve Irwin, Foster's etc Where's the humour?

The emu war thing wasn't bad though, if tired now. Apparently they're making a movie about it.

Let's see, we find their accents amusing, maybe the oddest in the English speaking world from our perspective. They have weird animals and plant life that would have gone extinct thousands of years ago on any other continent. WOGs and Bogans are funny. Kinda like Canada, Australia is somewhat similar to the US but different enough to be a parallel universe which is kinda humorous. You gotta put yourself in our shoes. I'm also happy to answer any questions on Australia.
