Default In your country, are nurses generally seen as working-class or middle-class?

In the UK, I would say nurses are just about seen as middle-class (more specifically, lower-middle-class).

Because of the poor pay or lack of educational qualifications (especially compared to doctors)?

Given the link (which is of course far from absolute) between race and social class in Peru, would you therefore say that nurses tend to look noticeably 'browner' and more Amerindian than doctors?

So most Peruvian nurses look Indo-Mestizo if not full Amerindian, whereas most Peruvian doctors look Mestizo with a substantial minority of White/quasi-White ones?

It depends if your asking about regular RNs or nurse practitioners who have graduate education and more autonomy.

I think RNs are considered lower middle class unlike nursing assistants who are distinctly working class. NPs have no less social status than physicians assistants, in fact they may have greater autonomy.

Regular nurses, whether those in GP surgeries or hospitals, are definitely seen as lower-middle-class here. (Only over the last 15 years or so have all nurses had to have university degrees). However, specialist nurses, e.g. cancer or cardiac nurses, would probably be more middle-middle class (similar to GPs and junior doctors).

    Middle class to upper-middle class.
Their annual salary may reach 100,000 CHF depending on the canton and years of experience.
