The United Kingdom did not improve as a country by leaving, they believe that they are like Switzerland to leave the EU and have a good economy but they do not have that power.

Switzerland at least has the capacity to be strong without the EU.

In their memoirs, both Churchill and de Gaulle recount their stormy meeting on 4 June 1944 when, according to de Gaulle, Churchill delivered the fateful words: “Mark this—on each occasion that we shall have to choose between Europe and the open seas, we will always choose the open seas. On each occasion that I shall have to choose between you and Roosevelt, I will always choose Roosevelt.”

I fear that the answer would be no and any request from the UK would be vetoed by, at least, the French. Possibly the Germans and, personally, I wouldn't be surprised of a Dutch "no" either.

That's a beautiful story. Except no British Empire 2.0 has come into existence and Canada focusses on the US and Australia and New Zealand on China. Meanwhile, the EU countries made up 85% of British overseas trade.

India was a former British colony. So they are culturally closer to the UK than the other European countries according to the Anglosphere.
