There was initial happiness when I first heard that Gonzalo was "free" (after 3 months of him being detained,) as I'd missed him, and he was going to try to escape (thousands of his followers on social media were also happy and hopeful to hear from him again,) but that hope lasted for less than 24 hours and quickly diminished when Gonzalo didn't tweet or post an update video within hours as he said he'd do if he made it across the border in his last video, and my happiness soon changed to nervousness and anxiety when no update followed, and I posted an update the following day:

Just as I feared... Gonzalo didn't make it.

If you'd bothered to listen to Gonzalo's last video about his situation, you'd know what that silence means.
