Like so many of his followers, I've missed Gonzalo a lot and was very worried about him after he was unfairly imprisoned by the Zelensky regime.

Whatever you think of Gonzalo's opinions and views on other subjects are irrelevant, and certainly does not justify him being detained, tortured, and a victim of extortion for his opinion on the Zelensky regime.

Gonzalo has lived in Kharkov in eastern Ukraine with his children for many years, and he's entitled to his opinions - whether people agree or disagree with his views.

What gives you any credibility to talk about this 9 year war in Ukraine?

And the fact that you callously and immaturely resort to the dirty neocon tactic of character assassination, and are complacent with people being arrested, beaten, tortured, and detained in prison for the "crime" of their opinions and freedom of speech (a basic human right)... means that if ever you're treated the same one day for your opinions and your views on any subject, then why should anyone ever feel pity for you?

It's not a question of whether people agree or disagree with Gonzalo's views and opinions;- it's a matter about freedom of speech.

I'm surprised. How do you know more about this conflict with Ukraine than I do? I try to read telegram channels once a week, but this is the first time I meet this person. I do not know who he is.

Gonzalo is an American-Chilean writer, author, and journalist who has travelled and lived in the UK, Netherlands, and Kharkov in east Ukraine for several years.

He comes from a wealthy background and was educated in an elite Ivy League university in the U.S. where he studied philosophy. He worked in finance for many years, before becoming a writer and author. He's frequently said that he wasn't interested in staying in the Ivy League circle of people, as he found it pretentious... and he's a very down-to-earth person.

He loves his motorbikes, but suffered from some injuries following a motorcycle accident in Ukraine earlier this year. He recently said that he still has a cracked or broken rib.

He said he quit smoking years ago, but he started smoking in all of his videos and TV interviews since last year, as he said he needs it to calm his nerves whilst living in a war zone and being forbidden to leave Ukraine by the SBU after his arrest last year for speaking out against Zelensky.

He's a very down-to-earth and popular You Tube vlogger who regularly held 3 hour discussions with lots of international guests for analytical and intense dicussions on geopolitics - particularly on the subject of Ukraine, (including political scientists, well-known former CIA agents (Ray McGovern and Larry Johnson,) and lots of other well-known vloggers from Russia, Belarus, the US, and other nations,) on his Roundtable channel:

He also made regular short video updates on his Gonzalo Lira Again channel about himself and what it's like living in a warzone in east Ukraine where he said everyone in his local area of Kharkov speaks Russian. (The apartment block next to him was hit by a Ukrainian missile once.)

He's been very critical of the Zelensky regime and about the US government making wars around the world.

For that, he was arrested again, detained for 9 weeks on trumped-up charges, deprived of the rights to contact a lawyer or post bail (despite having the money,) tortured, beaten, falsely accused of being a "Russian propagandist", had his phone and laptop seized, and had nearly $100,000 extorted from him by corrupt SBU agents.

When Ukrainian SBU thugs arrested Gonzalo on 1st May this year, they made a short video of his arrest and uploaded it to social media in an attempt to try to humiliate and demoralise him, by filming him dressed in his pyjamas when the SBU agents and Ukrainian police broke into his apartment early in the morning, and they also filmed inside of his toilet, etc.

Then the SBU planted 3 books about President Putin (just conveniently sitting on top of a coffee table,) in Gonzalo's apartment for their arrest video (which is so out of character for Gonazlo Lira who is more into philosophy books,) and it was an attempt to try to portray him as a "Putin propagandist" - just because he's critical of the Zelensky regime (who is a puppet of the CIA and MI6,) and because Gonzalo is very critical and angry with the western leaders in prolonging their proxy war which started in 2014.

He also has a lot of followers on his Twitter account https://twitter.com/GonzaloLira1968 and he's also given numerous interviews on George Galloway's talk show (who is a British politician,) about the Zelensky regime and the war in Ukraine.

Gonzalo has a lot of international support, including from the British politicians and party leaders David Kurten and George Galloway (who have previously appeared as guests on some of the Roundtable discussion videos that Gonzalo hosts,) independent journalists, and Russia's MFA spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has also spoken out on his behalf after the Ukrainian authorities detained him.

He's also known for his conservative views against gender ideology, woke ideology, etc, and for mocking the craziness of the U.S.

Gonzalo is a highly articulate, humorous, charismatic, and intelligent person who is very clued-up on a lot of subjects.

A video that Gonzalo made earlier this year prior to his arrest and detainment for the "crime" of free speech on You Tube. (Air raid sirens frequently go off in the background during his videos (such as at 1:51) that were recorded in Kharkov, east Ukraine.)

I'm getting nervous as he said in the third part of his video (below) that if he makes it successfully across the border, then he'll post an update within a few hours... and if he's stopped by the SBU and arrested for skipping his court trial which was due today on 2nd August, (which he knows won't be a fair trial,) then he's looking at up to 8 years in a prison labour camp, and that would be a death sentence for him given his age and health conditions.

The SBU and Victoria Nuland don't want him to publish his book about how they've already extorted $100,000 from him.

A lot of hours have now passed since his last update on Twitter and on his You Tube channels... and silence.

Ukraine used the American transvestite and pro Ukraine propagandist (Sarah Ashton-Crillo - who has frequently tried to smear Gonzalo Lira and who also once bragged in a video about participating in torturing Russian POWs,) as a spokesperson to issue a public statement on behalf of the Ukrainian authorities on the fate of Gonzalo Lira.

They are rubbing his arrest and torture in our faces.

This is the US government smugly laughing today in the world's face when confronted with the reality behind its so-called "human rights" advocacy.

The US State Department disregarded a question by a journalist from The Grayzone regarding the US citizen Gonzalo Lira, who has been tortured by the Ukrainian security services for the "crime" of free speech, and refused to answer when asked what the US government are doing to help free Gonzalo.

US government officials have been feigning ignorance about Gonzalo whenever they're asked about him during press conferences for many months now. They know exactly who he is. The Zelensky regime are puppets of Victoria Nuland and the CIA.

If US officials wanted to, they could get Gonzalo released within an hour of a phonecall to Zelensky (who wants to continue receiving US funds.) But they clearly don't care about freedom of speech and human rights.

Gonzalo's good friend, Mark Sleboda, IR & Security Analyst, Senior Lecturer in IR & Security Studies MGU 2012-14, LSE postgrad, US Navy vet-Nuclear Engineering, who lives with his Crimean wife in Moscow, and is a geopolitical commentator, said that Gonzalo tried to cross the Hungarian border, but was arrested on the Ukrainian side.
