LOTR.

Hobbits are for Hobbits, Man for Man, Dwarfs for Dwarfs, Elves for Elves. They can unite to defeat a common enemy, but they retain their own lands, culture, customs. Of course Star Wars has a similar element or theme but all of these other weird and non human species, who should be pets, on the same level is rather strange.

I will say that the latest Star Wars show Andor is very good. Stellan Skarsgard gives maybe the best speech in the history of the franchise. Both do a good job warning of both a global/galatic one world empire overlord.

I'm not an advocate of monarchism but the universe of LotR is just written beautifully and elaborated fantastically.

Btw, I read books of LotR in English as a part of my lazy self-education in this language. The film isn't nearly as worthy as it's the case with films about always.

That is an impressive achievement. I have read the major Kafka works in German. However, I had previously read them in English and had those translations by my side along with a German-to-English dictionary. One of the LotR books is three or four times longer than Kafka's complete surviving canon.

Yes, my English is basically self learned. Only in the very beginning my girlfriend helped me to start but her English was rather average and I surpassed it quite quickly.

Indeed, it took a lot of time to read LotR and now I don't remember how much it was. It was a long time ago. So long, that my first dictionary was a paper book which made translation much slower. When reading LotR I already had an electronic dictionary however. I too had a translated copy of LotR next to the original to accelerate the translation. I used this method for other books too.

Generally, learning a language was to me like solving a puzzle that unfolds step by step as I became more familiar with it (I've picked up a few). And I've always liked solving puzzles
