The Kurds have a rather baseless claim to a vast area of the Armenian Highland -- most of present-day Eastern Turkey was historically the Armenian Homeland. After the Armenian genocide (1915-1923), there were vast areas throughout the historic Armenian Homeland, which became devoid of millions of Armenians, who perished, fled or disappeared into Muslim homes. In there place, Kurds, for the most part, moved into the homes and land of Armenians who were no more to be seen in their own countryside.
Today, the Kurds who once lived as neighbors to Armenians, now are the bulk of the population in many former Armenian settlements. Most of these Kurds now identify as Kurdistan, the historic Armenian Homeland, in present-day Eastern Turkey.
