Default The Economy of Finland: Exploring Finnish Economy

Two words best describe Finland: rich and happy. This is a deep dive into the economy and history of Finland, the world’s happiest nation.

The Finnish economy is strong — and silent. It is not often discussed or even mentioned. But the country does possess a stable economy. Finland is a big player in international trade, and excluding micronations, it is the 16th richest country in the world in terms of GDP per capita. It’s worth mentioning that Finland is not rich in natural resources.

The history of Finland is filled with difficult moments. The great famine, delayed industrialization, war with the Soviet Union, the Second World War, economic ups and downs of the second part of the twentieth century, and so on

Finland is also the happiest country in the world. Education is great. All Finns are well protected by a great social security system. Politicians are not corrupt. The Finnish climate is harsh, but the country is clean, and pollution levels are quite low.

The Finnish education system has greatly contributed to the country’s success. It might be the best education system in the world. It does what very few other systems do. Watch more to find out about what makes Finnish education unique and so good.

1.) Russians have not attacked (bombed to ash) to Finland now just lately (=> Finns have been able to show how they are).

2.) Generally speaking Finns are not lazy (like some are, even in Europe). Finns are also pretty logical people (they do not follow book/instructions as tightly as Germans but still well enough (vs. slavics, southern euros etc.) ... plus who knows; sometimes small flexibility can even help them?

3.) As everywhere the leaders will describe the nation (people and the culture). Finns leaders are / have been quite good for their own people (not taking all the money to their own pockects). Conclusion? Finns needs to be pretty good people (deeply inside).

4.) Finns have copied a lot from Sweden (and from the rest of Scandinavia). That still is nothing away from Finns. Copying ideas is a very easy for anyone; putting those ideas really working in everyday life => that is what counts.

Finland does not have much of natural resources, the climate is pretty hard/difficult, country is basically isolated from the rest of Europe (market areas), country is rarely populated (more difficult to create whole country level working infrastucture) etc.
Keeping those in minds, Finns have done better than ok. All starts/comes from individual people. How they are and what kind of country they will want live.

Very nice, kinda basic video, I mean there was no new things said, Finnish education system is very well known and high social help is typical for Nordic countries nd it works for people with their mindset

What the heck 3:27 "with it's neighbours like Germany...", I guess I look on the map the wrong way

And now I think the Swedes should revamp their system by learning from the Finns, Sweden seems to have a bad issue with rural unemployment (and, of course, there is the migrant crisis). Both problems seem to be less pressing in Finland.
