Disadvantages of Prostitution
Not many people ever talk about the opportunity costs. I'm concerned about the psychological effects on children of their realization that prostitution is legal and that some make lots of money out of it in their own country. I'm also concerned about the loss of the sanctity/the sacredness of sex.

Advantages of Prostitution
Maybe it would be a good idea to combine eugenics with prostitution; such as requiring sterilization of individuals who partake in it. I'd also like to not allow any money to go to those terrible people that sell women black market style.

My Opinion
Changed my mind, I want it all illegal. Family values should be high priority in society; the unnecessary externalities should be eliminated. A stronger deterrent for stopping rapists would be tougher sentencing (firing squad?) rather than allowing brothels (which just encourages women to be treated as commodities).

I think prostitution will always exist.

Hypothetically speaking, if there are large segments of the population that want nothing to do with it, then it would be possible to throw out anybody that does it from the country and it wouldn't exist within the country.

here in Italy prostitution isn't illegal, but it is not regulated since 50's (when the brothels were legals), it means that today prostitutes don't pay taxes,
i'm agree with legal and regulated prostitution as happened in the past, we need money for reduce the public debt, and according to the statistics in italy lives between 50,000 and 70,000 prostitutes!

I think prostitution will always exist. Therefore I voted for it to be made legal but regulated. In that way it can be supervised so that e.g. girls and boys who are underage don't become sex workers.

Having recently watched a programme by Stephen Fry in Nevada, I was quite enlightened on how respectable it is. It requires heavy regulation, which I think is a good thing to protect those who offer the service. Prostitution will never go away.

I'm not in favor of prostitution. I think a form of degradation and exploitation of the body, while I understand that most people who choose to work in this area, do so out of financial need or are forced to do so. There are also many cases of people who really like it and choose at will.

I believe it should be legalized but controlled, because it moves billions worldwide profits and who are the owners of places of prostitution, they are people of bad character
