You can't rationalise why someone would abuse someone because they are "foreign". I don't know what the issue is here but it's not logical for someone to dislike an ethnicity even if you have had a bad experience with someone from that ethnicity in the past. A balanced person would treat people on an individual basis no matter where they come from.

Only reason they don’t now is because all assimilated Europeans are now under the collective "white" identity here in the US and speak English. I think it went because the Anglos were the leading class and somehow German Midwestners we’re just so numerous to be handled anyhow. Speaking German in America had its final nail in the coffin during WW1, that’s true. You spoke German, you were thought to be a spy and not a patriot. They’d tar & feather German-Americans and sometimes even lynch them for it.
