    Default Alps forests HUGE PROBLEM..

Can any Austrian Italian Swiss French (or someone who lives in the Alps) tell me something about the damage that the bark beetle ( Ips typographus ) is doing and that is causing the spruce trees to die?

I'm so sorry for my late reply. The bark beetle plague can be managed by removing all dead wood from the woods as soon as possible. A healthy tree can defend itself against* some bark beetles with its pitch or resin. A fresh windthrow is ideal for bark beetles, as it's still good to eat but does not defend itself. After feasting and breeding there, they spread to healthy trees and overwhelm them in numbers.
Deep frost in winter also kills many of them, other than that, only clean woods (timberfarms) help.
