Keep in mind their mentality is climbing the ladders. If they once, even for a while reach the top ladder, its a great achievement for them. Think how many times a mountaineer needs to make Everest summit? Only once.

Well, yeah its even more about the feeling being with someone superior, rather something like rational survival of genes. As someone said, if its about rational survival they ll go for a nerdy, successfull tech engineer and live a decent family life, but it sounds pretty boring, unglamorous and there is some work involved.
