And? I mentioned the Soviet ethnic cleansing (which is something known even from the Soviet population censuses which clearly shows a significant drop in numbers) because someone apparently used the fact that there was a segregation in the universities for the Jews in the late 30s in Poland as somehow important when talking about the mass murders that happened under the Nazi, Soviet or fascist regimes.

I meant your link meaning to prove an ethnic cleansing had only this picture as a "document" and this picture doesn't content proofs. Just that.

I tried to find Soviet population censuses for 1926 and 1939 but I couldn't, so Wikipedia apparently contains wrong data - the same number for the Polish (поляки) for both censuses - 782 334.

I haven't read the whole thread, but Hitler, Mussolini, & Franco were all raised Catholic, and either tolerated Catholicism (Hitler) or made it the state religion (Mussolini & Franco); although not officially a member of the Axis, Franco kind of was. Japan wasn't Catholic, but it wasn't European either.

Contrast that with the Allies, where Roosevelt was Episcopalian, Churchill was raised Anglican, & Stalin was raised Orthodox. Roosevelt & Churchill didn't outlaw religion like Stalin did, but they didn't have the authority to do so either.

So compared with the misguided title of this thread, it would be more true to say that WWII was a war of Catholics (Axis) versus Non-Catholics (Allies), if we exclude Japan as a non-European outlier, and treat Roosevelt & Churchill as non-dictatorial outliers who would've also banned religion, but couldn't.

One could include Vichy France under Pétain as another Catholic Axis power, too.

Then it can't be excluded that some people could start providing a different information on their ethnicity to avoid possible problems. Just saying without denying anything.
