He has denied those comments and said he meant the knife attacker and not the Dublin rioters. He would need to be careful saying something like that as Limerick has some tough people who might not be too pleased with him saying anything like that about Irishmen.

Fianna Fáil Councillor for Limerick City West, Abul Kalam Azad Talukder, made headlines after The Limerick Post first reported that he said that he would “like to see” those behind the Dublin riots “shot in the head” – or beaten by the public “until they die,” with his words becoming the source of widespread criticism.

However, he has denied that he meant the rioters. Speaking to Gript today, Cllr Talukder claimed that he was referring to the individual who stabbed children outside a Dublin school last Thursday, and not those who subsequently rioted on Thursday evening.

“I made the comments, because who can stab a five-year-old kid? I said they should be shot in the head, but I did not mean a real shot. I mentioned in the Council that I did not mean this literally. I did not mean for the person to really be shot,” he said.

Asked whether he made the comments about the rioters, he added: “I didn’t say it about them. The way it was reported by the newspaper, it looked like I was talking about the rioters. But I mentioned the five-year-old kids. I mentioned that clearly, and I said, ‘Who can stab five-year-old kids?'” he added.

“No, this was not about the rioters. I would not say that,” he said. “This was about the person who attacked the five-year-old children.”

Cllr Talukder said that he regretted making the comments in the first place, and said he apologised at the meeting. He added that he did not mean the words in a literal sense, adding it was “an expression of emotion.”

Cllr Talukder further claimed he would not have made such comments about the rioters, for his own personal safety, adding, “Why would I put my family and myself in danger?”

I don't buy it. He said "they", and I doubt that it was colloquial. First, he actually says that the rioters should be beaten or shot. Then, he insults Irish people's intelligence with that obviously BS excuse. SMH

Yes quite possible. He's most probably backtracking because there are definitely people in Limerick that would give him a hard time. That's my maternal neck of the woods. I hope there is some pushback against all this nonsense. The Irish people are unique but politicians are now all from the same cloth and psalming from the same hymn book. It's ridiculous because Ireland was herself colonised so all the same crap that is thrown about about causing wars and colonising does not apply to Ireland. Anyway Ireland and Europe are just as multi ethnic now as new world countries so Europe now has irrevocably changed. They cannot return to the way they were unfortunately.

If you look at this and listen to people that have been protesting they have also said it is not immigrants but the undocumented men coming in that end up causing problems. None of these people that get rid of their documentation should be allowed stay. The Algerian that knifed the children and creche worker was supposed to have been deported numerous times but ended up being allowed stay and get Irish citizenship. He did not work a day in his life. Why was he allowed stay and given citizenship? These are the sorts of questions that people should be asking and not deflecting with calling protesters "far right" when they aren't. Politicians are making a mess of the country.

Well something's got to give because the amount of immigrants wanting to get to the West is colossal and the amount coming in is not sustainable and also it is starting to cause unrest in European countries. They just don't have control of their borders anymore and resources aren't infinite. Cracks are starting to appear so if some of these Governments don't start getting a grip on the problems I can see a lot of social unrest.

Yes Covid has been the start of the world unravelling. It will be interesting to see how the next few months unfold. Europe does appear to be turning to the right as a result of uncontrolled immigration. This is inevitable anyway and politicians live in a protected world and miss what is happening with the general population.
