All these grand names about Balkan studies never live up to the hype. Either they don't know history or don't know how to explain it. There hasn't been an Anatolian input during the Roman Empire that I know of.

Where is the historical record for that? Illyrians had a gradient from north to south, just as Romans did, and any other ancient population. This has been discussed already.

Because it's common knowledge south-eastern Poland and Galicia, Subcarpathia have known Balkan/Vlach influence. Even some celto-Germanic from medieval times and later.

I am not saying Slavs who migrated to Balkans were pure. But I am more interested to measure "proto-Slavic" ancestry than that of possibly altered migrant Slavs. We really need samples from Prague and Kiev cultures, that would solve any questions once for all.

They don't, they are just more southern and being more southern on PCA can show as SW shift.

In the paper is stated that Balkan IA populations shifted towards Anatolia during Imperial Era over 20% on average.

How many samples do they have to reach that conclusion? What are the historical sources for this? These studies seem to have an agenda, I have said it before. I see it from my own genetics, they are consistent in comparisons with the Imperial era romans and current Italians for the same latitude, central Italy. I didn't come out of thin air lol
