Here on Easter and Christmas public transportation like metro and buses work almost all night long, because there are all-night services in churches attended by people (in case of Easter and Christmas it attracts even people who don't visit church regularly, so it's thousands of people). The Holiday service and Liturgy last from like 10 pm to 3 am, so people leave the churches almost in the very early morning. Orthodox Christmas is on 7 January, so it happens in the night from 6th to 7th January, in the 7th January daytime Orthodox families usually gather for Christmas dinner.
