Do you belong to a political party?

I was sat in the pub last night with a group final year politics students and of course they were boring me rigid! but the table next to us were also talking about politics, so there is obviously plenty of interest in the young but how many actually take it any further? in our group of seven two had membership of a political party and one has stood for election

So do you have membership of a political party?
If so which and if you don't could you explain why.

Could those of you who are not British just hit other and then tell us here there are not enough poll options to add all the parties in!

No, I'm in the don't vote it just encourages them camp. I don't recognise the legitimacy of the 26 county Free State so I don't vote in it's elections. I'm a Craobh Gal Gréine supporter, not a nationalist party it's a nationalist movement.

Nope, Do not see the point in joining parties, for 3 months i was a member of the National Socialist Movement here in U.S. Now i just vote for 3rd party candidates when i can.

SNP. I support Scottish independance. I`ve been a member of the SNP since I was old enough to vote, and that is going back some time.
I also occasionally help out by handing out fliers etc locally at election times.

I don't belong to a political party in South Africa. Heck, if I get my ID book in time, I may be able to vote in March, but I'm not holding out any hope after over 2 years.

I'm not a member of any political party in Russia. Too apolitical myself and they all are not in my test.

I'm a registered Republican but I'm not very happy with them at the moment. I think party membership is quite a bit different here in the US then in the rest of the World. Most states allow you to identify with a party when you register to vote. You don't apply for membership, you simply declare Republican or Democrat when you register. Or independent (meaning no party allegiance, there is no independent party). Registering as Republican means I can vote in their primaries to select the Republican candidate in the general election. The primaries are overseen by the state election officials. It's the official 2-party system.
