We live in Syrmia where locals/natives are among the fattest in Serbia on average. In nearby Belgrade people are also fatter than Serbian average, because of distinctly urban way of life which includes eating junk food, weak physical activity etc. Her opinion is mostly based at Syrmia/Belgrade.

Yes, more precisely belong to Belgrade. After WW2 Zemun together with some surrounding places administratively became part of Belgrade and central Serbia. Because of that i live outside of AP Vojvodina. Only few km from me is APV, and there is no any natural border like river. Communists after WW2 gave to Vojvodina several villages in northern Mačva as compensation because they excluded most eastern part of Syrmia and small piece of Banat from APV.

sad, a lot of this is likely in part due to exporting of american culture. not only obesity but rates of heart disease and cancer and such from all the processed foods are going to be higher

Britain differentiates itself from western Europe in a big way - its women are more likely to be obese than their men, unlike the rest of western Europe. The difference more closely resembles eastern Europe.
