Many of those pics just posted could easily be from the Dominican Republic.

As I have said several times, Caricuao is a popular neighborhood in Southwestern caracas that is a mix of lower and lower middle class, and doesn't represent the general ethnography of all the city of Caracas.

Also, there might be some overlap (in these pics) with DR, but I'm sure there is some more Amerindian contribution among them, and less blacks/griffes compared to DR.

And also, many of the blackest people in Venezuela that is found out of the few heavily African lowland coastal pockets (and Caracas is out of those very African coastal pockets) is of recent Afro Colombian or Antillean origin.

Location within the Libertador Municipality (western Caracas) of "El Paraiso" parish:

Satellite map showing mostly western Caracas. The small area limited by red/white dotted lines is the urbanization (urbanizacion) El Paraiso. though the parish of El Paraiso extends a bit more out of that area. The school San Agustin of El Paraiso that I'm about to post pictures from, is there, just a little bit more west than that marked area:

    El Paraiso Parish:

Population: 116 159 inhabitants (2009). Nowadays it must have well above 120,000 inhabitants.

Average Altitude; 886 meters above sea level.

This parish is located very close to the historical center of Caracas. Indeed, the highway "Francisco Fajardo" (which is a highway that crosses the city from east to west) is the limit between "El Paraiso" parish (south of the highway) and the historical center of Caracas (north of it).

To avoid confusion, YES! this school has the same name as the other school in Caricuao I just finnished posting pics from, but this other "San Agustin" school is located in the mostly middle class parish of El Paraiso.

This parish has many middle class apartment buildings, but also a lot of commercial activity, with gas stations, car dealers, restaurants, bars, gyms, cinemas, shopping centers, etc.

Pics from the school San Agustin-El Paraiso comming up on next posts...

Similar to which Colombian costeńos?, since I know the Colombian Caribbean coast is very varied.

Also, Caracas varies from one sector to another. The school in El Paraiso (mostly middle class area) that I just started posting, is noticeably less African mixed than the high school in Caricuao (mostly lower/lower middle class area).
