There are clearly no obvious CHG uniparentals in Steppe, so I don’t know what people still think Steppes are part CHG when they clearly weren’t. Just some population that was closely related to them. Sure one J1 in Khvalynsk and a J1 in EHG doesn’t really mean anything. But all mtdna looks like Eastern Forager (U), Basal (X-W-I) & Farmer (T-J-H) mediated.

Huh? Of Yamnaya samples they're 50% ANE, not 3/4. And yes they were mixed with CHG, mixed or mixed with another pop that was so darn close to CHG that they appeared as the same in a DNA test, that's pretty much the same thing and it's just splitting hairs if they aren't "exactly" CHG admixed (which the academic consensus is that they are.)
