Outside Western Europe, which of these countries would you categorise as 'Western' and why?

We are discussing how to define whether a country is 'developed' or 'civilised' or not. In addition to most of Europe bar some but by no means all Balkan countries, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand, we could also include Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Costa Rica, Panama, some Anglophone Caribbean countries like Bahamas and Trinidad, most Gulf Arab countries, Israel and Turkey.

It's really easy actually: If everybody tries to escape that country (Afghanistan, Somalia, Venezuela, etc...) then it's a failed shithole. If everybody wants to go there (UK, USA, Japan, etc...) then it's developed and civilized. That's what I call Incal principle ®

What about the vast number of other countries in between those extremes? (As for Japan, not many people migrate to it relative to its wealth and prominence, since the language and culture are so alien to most of the world).

As for the thread question (if we go by the traditional concept of western civilization, before today shitty decadence), definitively Argentina, Chile, Uruguay and Brazil, followed by eastern European countries.

Latin America is culturally western pretty much, there won't be much of acukture shock from Europe to Latin America, just like any country, it has their own costumes and traditions, but people have similar views of life and societal rules.
