Interesting how most of the countries are in Africa and the Americas.

Unless we can somehow terraform the outback we will rightly remain the most sparsely populated country on Earth.

(this isn't a serious large-scale policy btw, even if it's a nice idea)
    Spoiler!

You're number six actually. This list only includes those with 10 million people or more.

I think that will change in the future with the demographic explosion in Africa.

"Angola is ranked 12th among 58 countries in Africa. Angola's population increased yearly. The Angola population is projected to reach 44.84 million in 2030 and increase further to 77.42 million in 2050 and 188.28 million by 2100."

Possibly, but still for now at least Africa remains somewhat more sparsely-populated compared to both Europe and Asia (all those deserts don't help, after all).

If the estimates are correct, by the end of the century the two most populous cities on earth will be in Africa, Lagos in Nigeria and Kinshasa in Congo, each with a metropolitan area of almost 100 million inhabitants. Nigeria will become the third most populous country in the world with around 550 million inhabitants and Congo the fifth, with around 430 million.

Those sorts of population predictions are seldom right. Two words: Paul Ehrlich.
