I am more of a bourbon guy. It seems to be the only thing the Americans actually do right!

I like bourbon too. Not as fancy as expensive scotch, and not as lousy as cheap scotch.
The problem is that 90-95% of bourbon varieties do not leave the United States and Canada.

I'm all for authenticity. Bourbon made in Europe will lose the vibe, imo.
In Russia, they started making some kind of “bourbon” not long ago, but I don’t want to try it yet - the authors don’t have enough experience.
