No. Imperium Romanum was a multiracial Empire and they enslaved all kinds of people. They were cultural supremacists from what I've read about them.

I can imagine myself in the atmosphere of the time of subjugated ethnic groups. For example, a conversation between gladiators from different parts of the empire. A conversation in free time in the gladiator school between Germans or Thracians with a black African (if they know Latin) about their respective homelands, the landscape of the country, his family and wife, the Gods they honored and so on.
