Would it still make sense to you if the British have lighter average hair color than Southern Germans given the higher frequency of very swarthy individuals among the later? Beddoe‘s Index of Nigrescence = D + 2N − R − F where dark brown to black shades raise in index and shades lighter than neutral chestnut (including reds) lower the index.

*Disagree concerning the Germans vs the British. Unless we separate Northern Germany from the entire Germany, then one can say that Northern Germany's blonder-haired than Britain. Northern Germany is about the same latitude as a good part of Southern and Eastern England. Germany isn't blonder-haired. Don't confuse Germany with the Netherlands. It's the Netherlands that is overall blonder-haired than Britain, lying at the same latitude as Southeastern England. The Netherlands and Germany are not equally blond as some trolls on these sites want to make us believe. They are not identical either. They do share some resemblance (Germanic people). Anyway, the term "fairer" cannot apply here. With the only exception of the Irish, the British are the reddest-haired and fairest-skinned of Europe. Germans, even Northern Germans are not as blond as Scandinavians or Balts either. The British are lighter-eyed than Germans, Belgians, Luxembourgers, French, Swiss, Austrians, Czechs, Slovaks, Poles, Ukrainians, Russians and Southern Europeans.
* You could have used Switzerland vs France. As a whole, one can that the Swiss are "fairer than the French. Due to the fact that the Swiss have an overall higher rate of blonde or light hair, blue or light eyes than French. Despite the fact that a good part of France lays north of Switzerland.
