Default Looking for a Greek surname

    Hello, neighbors!

My great great grandfather was a Greek, who emigrated to Bulgaria around 1913. He was born in Elefteropoli, near Kavala, but during communism my family'd lost connection with the Greek side. I'm trying to find out what his real surname might have been. He used Bulgarianised names here Stratiya Filipov Dzhaponov(you read Dzha like ja in jar)(Stratos Filippou), but we have no idea what his real surname might have been. His Bulgarian one is a loan/slang for "fox" or "clever like a fox".

Any analogs or similar surnames in Greek?

“For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Eph. 6:12

Definition of untrustworthy and loose character are those that don't believe in God.

Filippou looks like your grandparent's last name, from first glance.

It indicates paternal ancestry, the son of Phillip.
