Everything suggests that the Kremlin was caught off guard. In this forum, however, the blame and responsibility will always lie with others. The Kremlin has not been short of warnings. In addition to public warnings from Western diplomats, the US warned Russia of this possibility in November 2023. Moscow reportedly ignored it. In fact, Vladimir Putin during a meeting with one of the branches of the Russian secret services last Tuesday, argued that these were nothing more than "provocative statements by a number of Western structures". The Russian President was caught up in his own state of paranoia, thinking it was information intended to destabilize Russian society, not least because this is actually a classic method used by the Kremlin, that of spreading disinformation and fake news in other countries. For the time being, neither the security services nor the Kremlin have made a mea culpa. Vladimir Putin did not even bother to show his face or react publicly to the attacks yesterday. A great leader indeed.

My friend lives 1,5 km from the Crocus City Hall and sees the fire and roof now from his 10th floor. In 2002 he lived 500 meters from concert hall Dubrovka where the terrorist attack took place.

Former defense minister Moshe Ya’alon on Saturday said the Islamic State terrorist group in the Syrian Golan Heights “apologized” for attacking an Israeli unit.

“There was one case recently where Daesh opened fire and apologized,” Ya’alon said, using the terror group’s Arabic nickname.

This was an apparent reference to a clash that took place near the Syrian border last November, in which IDF troops exchanged fire with members of the Islamic State affiliate. After a brief gun battle, the Israeli military attacked the terrorist group with airstrikes and tank fire, killing four of them.

Russia's support of Assad in Syria is because they don't want radical Islamists so close to their border (considering they have issues with Muslim extremists and they could get support in Syria)

Frank there is something you need to understand. Russian-Iranian intervention in Syria was to block American and British elite attempt to topple Assad who refused to let Qatari LNG pipeline pass through Syria into Turkey and then into EU zone. Qatari share into EU gas import would have risen to the top, it would have been cheap as well. Such a pipeline would have rendered Russian gas exports to EU irrelevant and US/UK giant investor groups who hold major stocks in Qatar Oil and Gas would have controlled the EU oil and gas market. Yes these power groups see EU as a playground. IPO of Persian Gulf Sheikhdoms hydrocarbon companies are open in US, Canada, and UK stock markets for the very same reason. If you remember Hilary Clinton who was the secretary of state at that time even met with Assad and called him a great leader to persuade him to accept this. It would have also killed any Iranian gas blackmail in the JCPOA. So Iran and Russia both giant OPEC members were scared of such a project, General Soleimani personally met Putin to discuss this matter in Moscow after which both countries signed a defense pact. They pressed Assad to refuse such a deal, Western allies started their attempt to topple Assad first by the Free Syrian Army (FSA) which was at that time run by Western agencies sitting in Turkey and Jordan and then through the synthetic organization ISIS whose goal was to somehow secure a corridor through Syria which would then be occupied by US/UK under the guise of fighting Wahabi elements, such corridor will later form the LNG corridor. The entire plan failed because of timely Iranian-Russian actions.

All of this is pure $$$ game and has nothing to do with ideologies and radicalism. Russia being an old empire knows this game pretty well.
