How would you guys explain why irish are way more religious

The Irish were religious for a long time. Being Catholic was a part of Irish identity and remember they had a lot of discrimination due to being Catholic so their faith used to bring them together and if people feel they are being forced to do something they will stubbornly resist. However now the Irish are losing their religion and a lot now don't attend Church. Hopefully they will still keep some of the values that were important such as family and not losing all their morals even if they are becoming less religious.

Well it's I would say to do with the whole idea of English eccentricity and many English people tend to develop obbsessions with various topics and things i.e like railway enthusiasts, you don't hear that much about Irish eccentrics, the Irish are very bright but they don't seem to think outside the box as much, same goes for the Spanish.
