The truth is that the US is a Junta of permanent bureaucrats (especially from the intelligence agencies, State Dept, Defence Dept),
as well as oligarchs and elite politicians. The president is only a figurehead and elections are a facade, both parties are the same at the highest level, there is really only one party. The Democrats are the party of power, and the Republicans are supposed to be controlled opposition maintaining a veneer of democracy (at least until Trump came along and ruined this arrangement).

There's been a growing amount of protests against mass immigration in Ireland over the last few years, and some of the protests resulted in buildings that were housing refugees being burned down, along with angry protests against Ukrainians jumping the housing queue in Ireland.
