Okay, in short words what I think about it:
Mankind is in developement and one of many occurences thereby is what is called woke in regard to social, sexual and racial issues. In some small circles are excesses of this. A main reason for the excitement is certainly also the media landscape giving too much space for extreme forms of identity politics and so it has become a combat term.
