They push what a society allow them to push. Only issue is that they forgot for a minute their consumer base is a case study of almost entirely some not so agreeable dudes chest bumping in the Rust's Belt. Instantly regreted it, and might never do that again.

They didn't initiate this, they are a mere representation of what is accepted. The political and intellectual elite allowed this in the first place and most of the time people just sigh but don't react, especially not with their money, up to a point now they find it too ridiculous.

You're right. In Croatia, no guy who dates a girl that works pays for everything in a relationship unless he is very well off or insists on it.
We have a higher living standard compared to some other Balkan states.

50/50 is especially common among younger people, they don't have much money.

However, in some places like my county unemployment is still high, especially for females, and those who work have much lower wages on average; which is why for me is unacceptable that any of my female friends pay for me although many do insist, let alone a girl I'm dating.
I except this only on special occasions such as birthdays, and so do many men.
In Bosnia is far worse.

We are collectivistic, not individualistic, money-oriented region. We like providing for those we care about.
No sane Balkan guy cares about money, that's incel propaganda from the West.

Objectively speaking, yes. Why? Because husbands on aversge don't mind if wife stays at home and wives on average object if husbands don't work.
