The moon landing a hoax? Lord, people will believe just about anything these days.

Astronomer Dr. Phil Plait (a major player in the Voyager missions to Jupiter and Saturn, plus a blogger at The Discovery Channel) answers this one adequately here and here. Plus answers a whole lot of misconceptions about astronomy at his web site.

If this doesn't convince you, then you're free to email Dr Plait about this. Anybody who believes it's a hoax is likely to have paranoid attitudes about even the most ordinary acts of government.

A few years ago I found a link on the NASA website addressing the conspiracy theory about the alleged inability for manned spacecraft to pass through the Van Allen radiation belts. The NASA page explained that the exposure for the men was small due to flight speed and such, it also had relevant equations to prove the point. My math isn't that up there so it was all Greek to me.

Considering the footpaths are visible on the JAXA site for the Kaguya probe- taken with an HD camera orbiting the moon- I think that ends the discussion of footprints.

and in the fake videos there are not stars, the shadows are wrong and the flag waves.

In my high school Physics II C AP class, my teacher made us watch the conspiracy video (stars/flag waving/shadows etc.) and we went thorough each one debunking each conspiracy theory. Myth busters had a great special about this too. I'd suggest you start on that video- it's on YouTube. It talks about each of those conspiracy theories you've just brought up.

Give me a break. They have cameras orbiting earth that can tell what type of cigarettes are sitting on the dash of your car, so you are saying a moon orbiter from Japan, noted for their optics construction, can't authenticate lunar garbage left over from the moon walks?

Look at the probes that have orbited the moon like the Kaguya from Japanese space program (JAXA). They filmed the landings in HD video from lunar orbit. You can find the imigaes zoomed in on the google earth program for the moon.

Great googlyoogly, I say that almost every day, but for a very different reason.

If you only had a fraction of a clue, about what you only had a fraction of a clue about, you'd be 1000% more humble in an instant.

As long as people refuse to look at things with an open mind and are ready to freely discard their previously held views, which are entirely based on what someone else taught them, such things will be continued to be ignorantly labeled as ‘conspiracy theory’, and no real progress will be made on those issues.

After all, if it really is just a bunch of noise, what could possibly be the harm in discussing it?

Doesn’t anyone find it odd how utterly hostile people become when you wish to discuss things like this, even in theoretical context?

Now, how can I say this without totally coming off as a complete and total ass…

Most people simply do not, will not, ever have the capacity to understand this topic.

To do so would require a complete revamp of everything they thought they knew, about everything they thought they knew.

In other words, absolutely paradigm shifting.

As the old saying goes, what has been seen, cannot be UNSEEN.

And most simply don’t have the grapes to go through with it. It would change your life, and the way you view EVERYTHING, forevermore.

What constitutes a atmosphere? It is relative to non existent. In the context of optical distortion, it is irrelevant.
