Clearly an important and high priority mission.

To Australia and NZ certainly. We could have defence agreements, encourage trade and make it easier for companies to go between the three countries and we could have immigration policies which favoured movement between the three above that from other countries (in essence a watered down White Australia policy).

I want Australia, NZ and the UK to be close again. Culturally, ethnically and of course through family ties we are close. It is a shame politics has to screw things up.

    An Anglosphere organisation?

God's sake... Australia and New Zealand are, with time, getting even MORE British. The USA is getting very much LESS so by the day. I hate to abandon the ex-Britons who are trapped in that country, but I can hardly wish my own country were shackled to it too! I hope against hope that they'll turn things around over there, but I'm not going to support integration with Wall Street, Israel lobbyists and multikult Aztlanisers.

WHY are so many of my countrymen mad on this 'Anglosphere' illusion? Honestly, it's like watching moths burn emselves to death around a 100 Watt bulb.

Yeah, quite ironic when politically they're as distant as they've ever been.

I'm not mad about it but then again I'm not mad about the EU either.

A Anglosphere organisation without America would be shit and only half finished.

I suppose we could just have closer relations with Australia and New Zealand at an independent level without America or Canada, but it's pretty two faced abandoning them.

Aussies and Kiwis are still basically "South Seas Brits" even if they would deny it, Yanks and Canadians have "evolved" from the British culture and are a lot more different. They had a longer time to develop and had more other Europeans settle.

I suppose we could do it your way. But how could we go about getting any meaningful relations politically with Australasia?
Westminster focuses on Europe and North America and much lesser so Asia.

Aussie politicians such as Rudd have also wanted to distance themselves from Britain (Rudd largely due to his ego and Sinophilia). Basically to many Aussie politicians relations with Britain equal subservience.

But British, Aussies and Kiwis still have large cultural and familial links, so at least that is keeping us together for now.

It's hard to deny the relationship. Other factors ought not be overlooked as well.

'No other economic relationship in the world is as integrated as the transatlantic economy.

The EU and the US economies account together for about half the entire world GDP and for nearly a third of world trade flows.

The transatlantic relationship also defines the shape of the global economy as a whole as either the EU or the US is also the largest trade and investment partner for almost all other countries in the global economy.'

I wouldn't abandon ship. Let's not forget the East.

This anti-capitalist fixation though is something more characteristic of a Russian Marxist-Leninist than a Britisher. Wall Street is nothing more than the City of London on American soil.

When I was at school, we were sold Capitalism as the only successful way to run an economy, and threatened with the bugbear of the queues and shortages and unrest of the Perestroika USSR. However, the appeal was made to free enterprise, social mobility and prospects, participatory democracy and meritocracy. This has been shown to have been a sham. All we have is monopolism, croneyism, speculation, anti-national global power structures and alienation. You offer nothing to repair this.

The City of London is not a wise phrase to utter when appealing to a working class provincial Englishman's national sentiments.
