I'm curious on the issue of Turks both in a racial sense and from a European viewpoint. In America the word Turk brings images of Islam and Arabs to mind.
I wonder if to Europeans this is not the case? I do not know obviously which is why I ask. From what I gather on the internet, Turks are not held high in European viewpoints overall. Then again, I'd like to know what you all have to say on the issue of Turkey and Turks.
A few questions of mine.
Are Turks considered Europeans racially by Europeans? If not then what are they considered to be mostly? Again, I am asking what they are considered by Europeans, not some super scientific definition. I want to know the raw feelings of Europeans on this, not some scientific exactness really, though that too in the end I'd like to know.
Is Turkey more of an Islamic country or a secular country as it claims? What I mean is, from a European perspective, would Turkey and Turks be considered under the veil of Islam so to speak or more European? All I see of Turkey in the news is bright, red Islam this and Islam that, which makes me wonder how secular it actually is?
Thank you for answering this as I am curious.
