I've met some Pennsylvania kids who didn't know about the Holocaust or who Hitler was. However, the problem was not that they weren't taught about it in school, the problem was that they didn't pay attention in school.

Getting kids to want to learn anything is a far bigger problem than trying to make sure they get force-fed multiculturalism and white guilt. Teaching the history of the Second World War must be done, but singling out the Holocaust is "used as a lesson for the need to have tolerance of others," as Rep. Brendan Boyle, the guy who introduced the bill put it. There's a somewhat fine line between teaching people about something on the one hand and telling people how to think on the other. I think the goal here is to legitimize multiculturalism.

History is mostly about interpretation. A good example of this is the Holocaust, actually.
