Faces. The white areas of their bodies are the parts that are usually protected from the sun.
If you look at the underside of a Negro's hands they are very much lighter than the parts of the body exposed to sun.
Give us aid!
She does look darker.also here is my mum, i dont look much different than her eventhough im slightly lighter.
M8~M9where on the graph would you place her?

I think it relates to lack of sun. The African underside of the hands and the women's chest usually covered by clothes (I'd expect).
Those parts of the body which have less reason to be pigmented and little exposure to the sun are often lighter (not always).
M2 at the moment.Where do you place yourself?
M1~M3 typically depending on season. It varies by season in pale skinned populations, anyone who tells you otherwise is a lier or never sets foot outside.
M4 is probably the highest I've ever gone on rare occasions, but that was from working out in the fields for weeks in the summer and it only affected my neck, arms and head.
I'd say light skinned populations can vary naturally by around 3 or 4 of those shades depending on whether it is summer or winter.

I dont know it, so ill go with your explanation. It just doesnt seem the same to me. I think its rather like why genitals are darker than the rest of body so underside of hands are lighter, i think it has similar reason and not really sunexposure. 23andMe had an survey on skin colour and told us to look under the arms, not on the inside of the hands.
