Yes, there has been a great exaggeration of the so-called "Welsh darkness" by many. The Welsh as a whole might score less blond than the more eastern regions of England which were more impacted genetically by Angles, Jutes, Saxons who came from Denmark and northernmost parts of North Germany region but is not less blue-eyed by any means. The most common single eye color among the Welsh is blue, thus blond hair is common and not as rare as some state. At 45%, Wales is closer to that of the Denmark average(50.9%), considerably higher than that of Belgium(28.9%) and more than twice that of the France average(20.2%). Wales is clearly a Northern European country.

Come on think. Wales is not Italy! 8% is way too low and an exaggeration for Wales or any country in the British Islands. Not even northern Italian regions have an average of 8% for blond hair, O.K.! Unless you meant "Nordic" blond maybe. Just think if Wales is 8% blond then how much France 5%? How about Spain or Italy? 1 or 0.7% maybe. That sounds ridiculous, doesn't it?

Yes, the most common eye colour in North-West Europe is blue as in the second picture, you posted. In the British Isles as confirmed by the Blue Eye Project and the ScotlandDNA Project in 2014. It is also the most common in the Netherlands. The frequency of blue eyes in the Central England region (50%) is almost identical to that of the Denmark average ( 50.9%), though Denmark is blonder-haired than England as a whole.
