Basques closest Relatives in the world are Spaniards.
In fact, most serious scholars consider Basques as a case of founding effect in which the original populations where the same blokes than in the rest of the Peninsula and part of southern France where called "Iberos".
That's why the closest cluster of Basques is with Spain. They are genetically isolated Spaniards. That all. Much like menonites and Amish are isolated Germans, with a comparable distance to European germans of that of Basques with "lowland" Spaniards (or other basque people, such as Alavese and Navarres)
Actually Basques aren't even the most interesting people genetically speaking of Iberia.
Attentions are being turned now to what was long known by many here. That is the "Valles Pasiegos" In The southern Santander and northern Burgos provinces
