Both things should not be obstacles. Try to sound self-assured even if you are not (in the case you are not, just saying, I don't know you) and treat the girl like if she's special and unique in the world. Respect her; the rest is eventually irrelevant. Although at 16, you might not find women that necessarily appreciate these traits until they grow up. A 30 years old woman speaking here.

Remember that every key was built to open a particular lock.*

My overall advice is to get an abundance of confidence. Confidence can be acquired by challenging your lack of it.

Get out there and take it on the nose.





*It's just unfortunate that many keys can open multiple locks, and in fact most locks are left wide open.
