ultimatelt catalonia will be what catalans want it to. the fact is that catalonia is only part of spain because the most if catalans want it to be. the day most catalans want it to break away, dont think madrid will start a war against them . maybe ib the beginning they will try to block the legitimation of the new state (something only to be expected given the context) but eventually things would normalize. problem is, as today, most catalans dont feel spain is the alien opressor the independentists want to portray it.
