Guys, I think we all live in some kind of parallel universe so let's agree to disagree. Overall, I obviously agree with dandelion on everything. One thing that it's not clear for me though, is the Pomak minority issue. I've never been to the Greek region of Thrace, but I've been told by several people who live there (Xanthi) that Pomak parents make sure that their kids will eventually learn Turkish.

This is bullshit, definitely not 1 million Bulgarians have been lost...the number is much smaller.
And I've never heard an ethnicity to disappear that way. Do you know how fast we can reproduce if needed? This can just go naturally, no need to hurry .
Also those things about gypsies overcoming Bulgarians are a little fairytale. I don't believe statistics that much.
Also Bulgarians are not 5.6 but maybe around 6.5 million. If you count those living abroad, the number is about 9 million...enough to reach demographic safety and sustainability.

You lost 1 million Bulgarians in just 10 years. How is that not a demographic disaster?

Many Pomaks (Islamized Bulgarians) live in the very North part of Greece. Most of them are assimilated into the country they've been living in for many years.

Gorani people are also said to be like Pomaks, and are Muslim Bulgarians.

Many Bulgarians live in the border with Serbia (Pirot, Bosilegrad, Dimitrovgrad). All of these villages and towns used to be Bulgarian just 100 years ago.

Near the borders you can never be sure if someone's pure one ethnicity.

There is a lack of support by the Bulgarian state to the Pomaks, where there is a strong to manipulative support by the Turkish state to the Turks.

Turkish state funds the Turks of the Muslim minority, pay for the for satelite TV, etc.

Pomaks nowadays identify themselves as Turkish

There was 2 years ago very interesting documentary on cable TV about the Rodopa Mountains and the Pomaks that lived there. The journalist interviewed around 30 Pomaks and 27/8 of them identified themselves as Turkish. They said they learn Turkish at school and will eventually apply for Turkish citizenship. Pomaks were the traitors during the Ottoman Empire.

Bulgarian blood, Slavic blood, but their mind is not Bulgarian at all. They leave Bulgaria for Turkey and learn Turkish folklore and vote for Turkish politicians

It's because Pomaks are very closed comunity and respectivly low educated(not all of course)along with their different religion they cannot integrate into the "normal" life. This is an Ace in the Jihad groups to convince them to practice radical Islam......"Low education=to fanatism"
