    Probably, however the precursor of that music that evolved in the late 70's was much more innocent and somewhat catchy and humorous, for example Mile voli disko and so on.

    Before the advent of Bulgarian chalga people, especially from Western Bulgaria who were able to catch Yugo-tv and radio, used to listen to Serbian turbo folk, but back then it was just a display of bad taste. After the regime fell and around the mid 90s the plague was already starting to spread...

    you must be very young, both Serb and Bulgar nations always copied one another in cheesy music and songs. Turbofolk is an invention of Greece and Turkey really.
