Its the closed vowel and sh sound, cool
Indeed. And maybe for that eastern European immigrants living here , are the better ones at our accent, and in some cases almost master it. I met once one ukrainian dude, and I only realized he was not native (not good with phenotypes I guess) when he disclosure his name ... Vitaly. His accent was remarkably flawless.

The reverse is true as well. I had two semesters of Russian language and culture at the university and while the language certainly is hard to learn, Portuguese students were really good at pronouncing Russian vocabulary according to our teacher. Nevertheless, like Endovélico has said, Portuguese is a Romance language and probably the most unique in terms of phonetic and accent making it a special language. Any similarity to Slav languages is just a mere coincidence.

The pronunciation looks the same to me. Estou is /ʃto/ (shto) and it means "I am", what does it mean in Russian?

I wonder, if people say it sounds Russian because of the SH sounds, what does it sound like when there aren't any of these sounds, like here:

A language with an interesting phonology one has to get accostumed to before understanding. Also a language with an interesting grammar (articles before proper names in European Portuguese if you know the person, conjugation of the infinitive, a synthetic future subjunctive, etc...).
