I can see it in a few different communities but it really became apparent when I was watching Burning Bush, a Czech show about Jan Palach. Discuss your thoughts.

No it seems like there is a lack of certain phenotypes. Maybe I'm just imagining it but i don't think I am.

If you are referring to the mouth area, the reason behind it might be the natural resting position of the tongue, which varies depending on the first language of the person. The change in the tongue position, cound subsequently influence some different appearance in the maxilla and lips.

Then people who were raised in their country of origin speaking a particular language, will differ from those whose immigration at an early age factually switched their main/first language to English.

A document from Yale university deals with this differentiation in the resting position of the tongue (the extrapolation to lip/maxilla changes, are my own hypothesis):

No I am talking shape of skull nose eyes chin...the idea about the mouth makes sense. I have heard it before. Have not read in depth though so thanks for the link.

Too small of a sample size would probably be the main contributing factor.

I don't see how in just 1st or 2nd generation Americans. I guess diet and upbringing make a bigger difference than I thought...or maybe it's something else. I don't even know what I'm suggesting yet though.

    I've noticed this too. Interesting.
